Welcome Incoming Students!

We are delighted to welcome you to the University of Bonn! Whether you are joining us as part of an exchange program or starting your master’s degree in economics, we are here to give you all the relevant information you need to ensure you have a smooth start.

Arrival and Orientation

As an incoming student, you will have the opportunity to participate in various orientation activities designed to help you settle in and get acquainted with the university and the city of Bonn. Our orientation program includes campus tours, information sessions, and social events where you can meet other students and start building your network. Don’t forget to check out the student council’s program, which is always a nice way to stay informed about upcoming events.

If you are an exchange student, you can find all the necessary information about your exchange program, including application procedures, course offerings, and support services, at: Information for Incoming Exchange Students

You will receive all information about German language courses directly from our department, since there are separate courses for incoming economics students. The department will also help you find accommodation, and there are special student residences reserved for incoming students.

What to Expect

Orientation Week: During the orientation week, you will receive essential information about your studies, learn about the various student services available, and have the chance to participate in fun social activities.

Student Support: Our student support services are here to assist you with any questions or issues you may have, from academic advising to personal support. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help. On Monday and Thursday the student council offers consultation hours from 12 noon to 1pm in our office at the other end of the courtyard at the Juridicum.

Moreover, the university organises a Study Buddy program for all internationals to ensure an easy start and our department has a program called „Econ Buddy & Social Tutor“ for international Master’s students.

Cultural and Social Activities: We organize numerous events throughout the year to help you integrate into the university community, including our Inside Research lectures or the Brussel trip for Master students.We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Bonn and wish you a successful and enriching experience here!
